The Patternoster Rig

The single hook paternoster is the simplest rig in the DVice range but can be one of the most effective when targeting a particular species of choice. The range is from size 2 up to a 4/0.
Small bunches of worm on sizes 2 and 1 hooks are perfect for flatfish and eels etc. Try a live shrimp or prawn tail hooked and presented at long distance using the smaller DVice or DV8 stubby capsules.
Step up to hook sizes 1/0 and 2/0 and you have a great rig for targeting hounds with peeler crab. You can even deliver live sandeels to waiting bass.

To target the larger cod load a 3/0 or 4/0 hook with 3 or 4 big lugworm and let it rip, the bait will still be intact when it hits the seabed. This rig is one of the favourites of the uptide boat anglers who can use the rig together with the fixed wire capsule to hold the bottom in the strongest of tides.
