*My capsule
doesn't eject the bait every time!
There are certain precautions you need to take when loading a capsule.
The most common reason for non-ejection is the hook point getting caught in
the slits cut into the tube, where the stainless wire stem runs through. The
easiest way to remedy this is to ensure when loading the bait that the hook
point is opposite to the stem.
Other issues can be -
*Overloading the tube. You can fill the tube quite firmly with bait, but there
is a point at which forces generated at impact with the sea may not shift
the payload if it is too firmly wedged.
* Water too shallow. The tube will normally eject baits in depths exceeding
four feet.
*My bait sometimes ejects
before the capsule hits the water. What can I do?
The most common reason for baits ejecting prematurely is that the snood length
is insufficient. We recommend that at least 3 inches of slack be available in
the snood length once the hookbait has been loaded.
When fishing small baits, or fishing into strong side winds the hookbait may
also eject. In these situations we recommend you use a "Plug" to take
up the capacity of the payload tube, and prevent air flow forcing out small
baits. A plug can be anything of organic nature. A folded piece of kelp frond,
piece of bread, bits of old bait etc.
*Can I use groundbait
with my capsule?Yes.
Once you have loaded the hookbait(s) into the payload tube you can add chopped
fish or other groundbait into the tube as a plug. On impact the groundbait will
be ejected together with the hook baits.
